Mission Statement

Victoria Children’s Centre is a non-profit, community based organization that provides quality childcare programs in a safe and nurturing environment. We are dedicated to enriching the development of children in the early years.

Philosophy Statement

We have developed the following philosophy to help guide the provision of services to families and program development for children. We strive to follow best practices for client services, policies and procedures, and in how our programs are implemented.

  • Research indicates that children learn through play and exploration of their environment and are entitled to opportunities that support all of their development. Developmentally appropriate activities will encourage children to develop skills in the areas of cognition, socialization, self-care, communication, gross and fine motor skills, self-awareness, and self-esteem.
  • Regular indoor and outdoor exercise with a balanced routine of activity and rest.
  • A nutritionally sound and well-balanced menu that provides for the daily nutritional requirements of the children.
  • Children have a right to a safe and nurturing environment which respects their individuality.
  • In fostering active learning, cultural diversity, inclusion, creativity, independence, and parent involvement by providing positive interactions between children, staff, parents, the centre, and our community.

Therefore, we aim to provide a stimulating environment that benefits the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of the child.

Inclusion Policy

We believe that all children belong. We’re committed to providing an environment that supports and promotes every child based on the guiding principles of inclusion.

  • We believe that inclusive programs are quality programs.
  • We must be responsive to the needs of our community to the best of our ability.
  • Programming will be reflective of the varying needs of our participants.
  • All children are welcome and bring value to our program. Some needs at this time may not be met as well as others, but will be discussed on a needs basis.
  • Parents are integral to a successful inclusion process.
  • Every child is an individual and unique.
  • Children learn best when they participate with others that have different goals and abilities.
  • We believe that the knowledge and commitment of all staff is vital to providing an inclusive environment. All staff are partners in the process and are committed to continuing professional development.
  • Recognize the importance of working with all professionals that have knowledge of the child.
  • Shared information to achieve a successful outcome for the child and family.
